Finding a Dentist That’s Right for You
Choosing a dentist in the digital age can be an intimidating process. It is no longer as simple as going to see the same dentist your parents, neighbors, cousins, and former high school beau all see. When a Google search brings up over 20 practices in your area alone, how do you begin wading through your options?
Here are 5 things to consider when choosing a dentist for you and your family.
1. Do they accept your health insurance or offer financing options?
One of the most pressing concerns for many when choosing a dentist is finding one that is covered by their dental insurance or offers financing options that fit their budget. In fact, 13% of working-age Americans have reported avoiding dental care altogether due to cost.
The team at Wohlers Family Dentistry fully understands that finances are a hurdle that many of our patients are faced with when seeking out dental care. We also understand, and have seen firsthand, how putting off dental care can not only worsen the issue but also, in turn, lead to far more costly dental procedures to repair the damage.
This is why, in addition to traditional payment methods at Wohlers Family Dentistry, we offer an exclusive VIP program for our patients who are without dental coverage. This program was created to help all of our patients afford the preventative care they need and deserve to maintain their beautiful, healthy smiles.
We offer three different memberships to match patients’ needs: the Adult membership for individuals 13 and older, the Perio membership for those specifically in need of periodontal cleanings, and the Child membership for those under the age of 12. All three memberships in our VIP program are effective immediately, even for those paying in monthly installments.
2. Are the office hours and location convenient for your family’s schedule?
Are the dental office’s hours and location both convenient for you and your family’s schedule? Is it easy to get to your dentist from work, home, and school, or is it out of the way and hard to find?
Wohlers Family Dentistry is conveniently located at 3733 Canton Road right here in Marietta. We are even just a few minutes down the road from Kroger for those who like to schedule their appointments on the days they are already running errands.
The office is open every Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our Friday schedule is subject to change, so if you are looking to book a Friday appointment, just give the office a call, and we will let you know what our availability is like in the coming weeks.
3. What dental procedures and treatments are offered?
When choosing how convenient a dentist is, in addition to their hours and location, you should also look over the services that they offer. The more services a dentist is able to do in the office, the fewer referrals and specialists you will need to seek out.
In addition to routine cleanings, fillings, and crowns, Dr. Wohlers and the team are able to offer oral cancer screenings, periodontal therapy, mouth guards, night guards, pediatric dentistry, implant placement, denture fabrication, root canal therapy, whitening treatments, and orthodontics, including Invisalign, dental bridges, veneer placement, and dental bonding.
We strive to continue advancing our education and in-office technology in order to provide patients with the dental services they need from the dental team you have grown to trust.
4. Is the office clean and up-to-date on dental technology?
A dentist office is a medical setting, so it should be clean, orderly, and tidy. You can take a virtual tour of our clean, inviting dental office here on our site.
The office should also be up-to-date with current dental technology. A dental office that keeps up with changing technology is one that is keeping up with the times and, thus, best practice. Technology has evolved rapidly over the last few decades alone. Newer technology allows dental practices to provide faster, safer, more efficient services with less pain to boot.
At Wohlers Family Dentistry we have invested in several machines to provide patients with the best dental experience possible. We use digital X-rays to take images, which exposes patients to less radiation and provides more detail than machines of years’ past. Not only is the imaging process safer, but it is also faster and more comfortable.
Another neat tool we have in our office is the Intra-oral camera, a toothbrush-sized wand that allows us to take digital images of the inside of your mouth. Our software then takes these pictures and stitches them together to create a 3D view of your mouth on an interactive screen. This allows us to more effectively educate our patients on any dental concerns we may find and how the recommended procedures in their treatment plan can restore their smile. Patients find this experience to be infinitely more informative than explanations done with X-rays alone.
5. Is the staff friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful?
Perhaps the biggest make or break for many when choosing a dentist office is how friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful the staff is each time you visit. When visiting your dentist’s office, you should feel genuinely cared for by the team.
The team at Wohlers Family Dentistry is a happy one! We look forward to coming into work each day and caring for our patients. Every member of the team takes pride in their role and continuously invests in their education to provide you with the best experience possible.
Dr. Wohlers sets aside time every year to advance her education. Currently, she is expanding her knowledge through courses on smile makeovers via Invisalign®, CEREC®, implant dentistry, and Lumineers.
In addition to staying active through various dental organizations, such as the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association, she gives back to the community through dental organizations, like the Mission of Mercy clinics.
Our dental hygienists take continuing education courses through Spear® Education to keep their skillset both finely tuned and up-to-date. In addition, our front office coordinator is always happy to help patients estimate fees and insurance reimbursement before beginning recommended treatments, and will gladly file insurance forms for you.
